Screen replacement finished
by Steve Blacker on Jan.30, 2009, under General
Here is the finished screen replacement for Scene 2 of “Emergency”. I will test next week whether it’s going to be best to use planar tracking to insert the video onto a blank screen, or whether I should film it while it’s playing back live on set. [EDIT: this won't be used now - I have changed the second scene.]

I have finished the screen replacement (main screen), although I still need to render it out. In the meantime, here’s a new frame-grab from the video:

Just created some new graphics for the blog theme I’m using. I’ll probably tinker with the design every now and then – now that I have created a PSD template for the graphic elements it’s a lot easier to change the look and feel of the site.
OK – back to work for me…

…and I’ve started work on my Professional Project II and Independent Studies II (I’ve combined them, so they appear here in the category: Professional/Independent Project II).
I have planned out the next three scenes in the short film “Emergency”, and at the moment I’m doing some pre-production for the screen graphics in Scene 2 (Near Earth Object Monitoring Station). I am also working on the script for the small amount of dialogue in scene’s 2 and 4.
Here is a work-in-progress screen shot of one of the Computer GUIs I’m creating for the “Master Screen” in the Near Earth Object Monitoring Station. Click for a larger version:
The above screen is already animated (radar scanner reveals triangular blip for the ship on each pass) and so on. I will post a short clip of the animated screen when I’m a little further along.
